Job summary

Staffbase Recruitment is assisting a leading automotive components manufacturer in Leicester to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will lead the design and development of mechanical components from concept through production, ensuring manufacturability and reliability.

Requirements include at least 5 years of mechanical design experience, proficiency in SolidWorks or Inventor, and knowledge of forging, casting, CNC machining, welding and sheet metal forming.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years mechanical design experience, ideally in metal manufacturing or automotive sectors.
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks or Inventor).
• Strong communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Job description

Our client is a leading manufacturer of automotive components and Staffbase have been appointed to recruit for the position of Mechanical Design Engineer.

Excellent salary £45K - £50K Negotiable + benefits

The Role:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the design and development of components for used for automotive applications supporting programmes from initial concept through production implementation.

Duties will include but is not limited to the following;

• Lead the design and development of automotive products, mechanical components, from concept through full product life-cycle, including production implementation.


• Interpret customer specifications and requirements to define design parameters, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.


• Develop detailed product specifications by analysing functional requirements, materials, performance, cost and operational efficiency.


• Create and maintain design data including engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and bill of materials in accordance with established engineering standards.


• Validate and verify design performance through analysis, testing, and interpretation of results, ensuring conformance to qualification requirements and reliability targets.

Candidate:

You will have at least 5 years previous mechanical design experience preferably within the metal manufacturing or automotive sectors. Applicants will be educated to minimum HNC level in mechanical engineering /design. Fully conversant with CAD software systems including 2D & 3D software SolidWorks or Inventor. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet metal forming Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and collaborate with cross-functions teams, customers, and suppliers

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday 40 hours
