Staffbase Recruitment is assisting a leading manufacturer of automotive components to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer. This role focuses on leading the design from concept to production, ensuring specifications and standards are met.

We require 5+ years of mechanical design experience (metal manufacturing or automotive), CAD proficiency (SolidWorks or Inventor), and strong cross-functional collaboration skills. 40-hour weeks with pension and other benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years mechanical design experience, preferably in metal manufacturing or automotive sectors.
• Minimum HNC level in mechanical engineering/design.
• Proficient in 2D & 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Inventor).
• Knowledge of forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet metal forming.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive products and mechanical components from concept through full product life-cycle, including production implementation.
• Interpret customer specifications to define design parameters and ensure performance and safety compliance.
• Develop detailed product specifications by analysing requirements, materials, performance and cost.
• Create and maintain design data including drawings, 3D models and BOM per engineering standards.
• Validate design performance through analysis and testing to meet qualification and reliability targets.

Our client is a leading manufacturer of automotive components and Staffbase have been appointed to recruit for the position of Mechanical Design Engineer.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the design and development of components for used for automotive applications supporting programmes from initial concept through production implementation.
Duties will include but is not limited to the following;

• Lead the design and development of automotive products, mechanical components, from concept through full product life–cycle, including production implementation.
• Interpret customer specifications and requirements to define design parameters, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Develop detailed product specifications by analysing functional requirements, materials, performance, cost and operational efficiency.
• Create and maintain design data including engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and bill of materials in accordance with established engineering standards.
• Validate and verify design performance through analysis, testing, and interpretation of results, ensuring conformance to qualification requirements and reliability targets.

Candidate

• You will have at least 5 years previous mechanical design experience preferably within the metal manufacturing or automotive sectors.
• Applicants will be educated to minimum HNC level in mechanical engineering /design.
• Fully conversant with CAD software systems including 2D & 3D software SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet metal forming
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and collaborate with cross–functions teams, customers, and suppliers
