Job summary

Talent is seeking experienced Automation Engineers to join our Engineering team at a large, highly automated distribution and logistics facility in the North West of the UK.

This hands-on role focuses on keeping automated equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently, through preventative maintenance, breakdown response, fault diagnosis, and continuous improvement to maximise uptime.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous maintenance engineering experience.
• Electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding experience.
• PLC fault-finding experience.
• Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Able to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
• Experience in an automated warehouse, distribution or logistics environment.
• CMMS experience.
• IOSH or Lean/Continuous Improvement experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on automated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and PLC/control faults.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise downtime and maintain equipment availability.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify potential failures.
• Complete maintenance records accurately using the CMMS.
• Investigate recurring faults and carry out root cause analysis.
• Identify and implement improvements to equipment reliability and performance.
• Support engineering projects, upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work with internal teams, OEMs, contractors and suppliers where required.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with relevant health, safety and quality standards.
