Job summary

A leading logistics automation firm in Wednesbury is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to ensure the efficiency and safety of automated systems. The successful candidate will perform mechanical and electrical maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and support improvement projects. Qualifications

Maintenance Engineer

Location: Wednesbury, West Midlands, England. Base salary: £45,000–£55,000 + overtime. Continental shift pattern, full-time.

We’re working with a leading automated distribution warehouse based in Wednesbury, currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team. The role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a key role in keeping the site’s automated systems running efficiently and safely. You’ll be responsible for reactive and preventative maintenance, fault finding, and supporting ongoing optimisation projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Carrying out mechanical and electrical maintenance on conveyors, sortation systems, robotics, and other automated equipment
  • Responding quickly to breakdowns and diagnosing faults to minimise downtime
  • Completing PPMs and keeping maintenance systems up to date
  • Supporting continuous improvement and engineering projects across the site
  • Working closely with operations to maintain uptime and performance targets

About you

  • Time‑served Maintenance Engineer or Multi‑skilled Technician (electrical or mechanical bias)
  • Experience working in an automated warehouse, logistics, or fast‑paced distribution environment
  • Strong fault‑finding skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and PLC‑controlled systems
  • Proactive, hands‑on, confident working in a shift‑based engineering team
  • Positive attitude with a focus on safety and reliability
