Royal Mail is seeking an experienced Automation Maintenance Engineer at Romford Mail Centre, operating in a 40-hour week with day, late and night shifts across a pool role that supports coverage during annual leave and sickness.
You will perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on automated parcel sortation equipment, identify root causes, log faults and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Hub/Mail Centre.
We are now recruiting for Automation Maintenance Engineer at our Romford Mail Centre, Sandgate Close, Romford, RM7 0AB site. Salary: £54,791 per annum, plus night shift allowance, 22.5 days annual leave with bank holidays, and a defined contribution pension scheme. A weekend supplement for Saturday (£54 per attendance) and Sunday (£109 per attendance) is applicable. The successful candidate will be required to follow the Romford Mail Centre shift rotation system, with some voluntary flexibility for 24/7 operational needs, including voluntary overtime coverage and occasional shift pattern flexibility. This role is a Pool position that requires significant adaptability, stepping in for other Technicians during their Annual Leave or Sick leave. Outside these periods, the standard shift will be the day shift, typically 06:30 to 15:00, Monday to Friday. Shift attendance equates to 40.0 hours per week - full time. The role will cover early, late and night shifts: Early shift 06:30-15:00, Late shift 14:00-22:20, Night shift 22:00-06:40, and weekends: Saturday 06:30-18:00, Sunday 06:00-19:00. You understand Health & Safety legislation and have first‑hand experience maintaining automation equipment with a flexible approach and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively. You hold a full UK driving licence, as you may occasionally be asked to travel to other sites.
