Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Plymouth seeks an Automation Maintenance Engineer to ensure reliable operation of advanced automation systems. Role covers shift rotation, night allowances, and a permanent contract, with day shifts typically 07:30–16:30, Monday to Friday.

The pool system requires flexibility to cover others’ leave and overtime as needed. Ideal candidates will be qualified in electrical/mechanical engineering (ONC/NVQ3), with automation maintenance experience and PLC knowledge, plus a UK

Qualifications

Qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Experienced in maintaining automation equipment, ideally with PLC knowledge.
Full manual UK driving licence for occasional travel to other sites.

Responsibilities

Keep automation assets performing through preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
Drive continuous improvement projects from concept to implementation.
Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and team leaders; complete reports and log faults.
Diagnose and resolve automation breakdowns quickly to keep operations flowing.
Monitor performance and work with stakeholders to boost output.
Own Continuous Improvement projects focused on enhancing machinery performance in our Hub/Mail Centre.
