Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is partnering with an established food manufacturer in Aberystwyth to hire an Automation Engineer. You will own SCADA and industrial automation fault-finding, supporting PLCs, drives, sensors, and general maintenance.

The role offers a weekday afternoon shift, with start/end times discussed during recruitment, and a strong technical mentorship within a well-established operation. Circa £60k DOE with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Experience with SCADA, PLC-controlled machinery in a live production environment.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills in a live production or process setting.
Ability to investigate existing code, controls and system parameters when equipment stops or behaves unexpectedly.

Responsibilities

Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot site SCADA and industrial automation systems.
Respond to controls failures, system interruptions, and automation-related production issues.
Identify root causes of faults and restore equipment to safe operation efficiently.
Maintain existing controls infrastructure and provide hands-on electrical and mechanical support when required.
Support PLC, drive, inverter, sensor, and wider control-system fault-finding.
Complete planned preventive maintenance alongside automation-focused responsibilities.
Work with production teams to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
Share knowledge with colleagues and learn from on-site SCADA specialist.
