Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd. in Shaftesbury is supporting a respected manufacturer to hire an Automation & Controls Engineer. The role focuses on supporting and developing the site's automation infrastructure, maintaining PLC/HMI/SCADA, and driving improvements that boost reliability and output.

It offers a circa £52,000 salary plus a site bonus in a modern facility. You will work Monday to Friday days (08:00–16:30), collaborating with production and contractors to deliver projects safely and

Qualifications

Engineering qualification within Electrical, Automation or Controls Engineering.
Experience programming and fault finding PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
Strong electrical fault-finding skills within an automated manufacturing environment.
Experience delivering automation improvements and supporting capital projects.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
Contractor management experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Supporting and maintaining PLC, HMI, SCADA and variable speed drive systems across the site.
Providing specialist automation support during complex plant breakdowns and electrical fault finding.
Designing, modifying and commissioning automation and electrical control systems.
Supporting process improvements, including electrical panel design, P&ID development and commissioning activities.
Leading and supporting capital investment projects from concept through to completion.
Identifying and implementing automation improvements to improve reliability, efficiency and production performance.
Researching and introducing new technologies that support the site's long‑term engineering strategy.
Working closely with production, engineering and contractors to deliver successful projects safely and efficiently.
