Job summary

Catering is seeking an Automation Engineer to join a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing operation in Telford. Salary £41,000 per year, Monday–Friday, permanent role.

You will design, implement and test control systems, optimise uptime and ensure seamless integration of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and robotics. The role covers electrical and controls across machine building, optimisation and high-level technical support, with close collaboration to mechanical, quality and production teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC or Level 4 qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Relevant experience in electrical engineering, controls and automated manufacturing.
• Desirable: recognised apprenticeship or time-served background.
• Desirable: IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and test control systems using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics and industrial networks.
• Debug and optimise PLC, robotic and HMI software.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, robotics and machine-safety hardware.
• Analyse and improve electrical systems and automated machinery performance.
• Optimise control systems to improve uptime, cycle times and efficiency.
• Provide electrical and controls fault-finding and troubleshooting support.
• Work closely with Mechanical, Quality and Production teams.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across the manufacturing process.
