Job summary

First Bus Scotstoun Depot in Glasgow is seeking a qualified Auto Electrician to maintain and repair electrical systems on our fleet during night shifts.

You will work on bus electrical faults, perform servicing, and ensure compliance with safety standards. The role offers a permanent full-time contract with overtime.

Qualifications

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Able to multi-skill within an engineering environment, with electrically biased experience preferred.
• Valid UK driving licence; PCV licence desirable and support to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems, service and replace parts.
• Identify faults, specify repair methods and parts to use.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and identify defects.
• Adhere to HSE and company policies.
• Maintain and develop technical skills as required.

Position: Auto Electrician

Location: Scotstoun Depot, 1073 South Street G14 0AQ

Contracted Hours: 37 per week (full time & permanent + overtime available)

Working Hours: Nightshift, 4 on 4 off - start/finish times can be discussed

Pay Rate: £24.07 per hour - with further pay increase scheduled for April 2027

Salary: Approx. £46,310 per annum

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Auto Electricianfor our First Bus Scotstoun Depot – we would love to hear from qualified candidates with some great electrical knowledgeand any ex-Forces personnelwith an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle electrical repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
• Diagnose vehicle electrical faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
• Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair
• To fully comply with all HSE legislation along with Group Policies
• To fully comply with all relevant Standard Operating Procedures
• Maintain and develop technical skills as required

About You

• Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair
• Ability to multi-skill within an engineering environment with preferably electrically biased experience?
• Do you have a valid UK driving license? A PCV licence is desirable, however we can help you achieve this
