Job summary

Linwood School's Springwood Campus in West Howe is seeking Teaching Assistants to support pupils with autism and complex needs. The role is 30 hours per week, term-time plus inset days, with a starting point within the BCP Salary Band 5.

You will provide one-to-one and small group support, help students stay on task, and contribute to a structured, nurturing learning environment under the direction of the class teacher. Commitment to safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working with children and young people with autism is desirable but not essential.
• Candidates should be resilient and able to communicate effectively.
• Commitment to safeguarding and working in a special school environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students to facilitate their academic and social progress under the direction of the class teacher.
• Create a structured and nurturing environment that promotes student engagement.
• Assist and encourage students to remain on task.
• Offer emotional support, utilising positive behaviour reinforcement techniques via trauma informed approach.
• Provide personal care for pupils and appropriate medical treatment following individual care plans.
• Ensure that students records are kept up to date and in line with current guidance, under the direction of the class teacher.
