Job summary

Engage Education is recruiting an Autism Support Teaching Assistant in Leeds to support learners with ASC. The role is full-time, term-time only, on a temporary-to-permanent basis with an ASAP start.

Responsibilities include one-to-one support, helping pupils engage in classes with other staff, and giving feedback to teachers and parents. DBS required; CPD opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to manage behaviour and support learners with varying needs.
• Experience in engaging pupils using diverse teaching strategies.
• Ability to provide feedback to teachers and parents effectively.

Responsibilities

• Support learners on a one-to-one basis, including those with complex learning needs.
• Assist pupils to engage in class activities alongside other support staff.
• Provide constructive feedback to teachers and parents on progress and challenges.
• Support pupils with Autism, ASC, SEMH, ADHD and other learning needs.

Autism Support Teaching Assistant
Full time – 08:15am until 15:30pm, Monday to Friday, Term time only

Engage Education are currently working in partnership with a primary school in Leeds on an exciting new Autism Support Teaching Assistant position specifically to support learners with ASC.

Starting as soon as possible, the school is looking for an outstanding SEN Teaching Assistant to join them on a long term temporary basis. If the role goes well there is the potential for this to turn into a permanent assignment.

Your Role:

• Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis often with complex learning needs
• Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class
• Providing feedback to teachers and parents
• You will be assisting pupils with Complex Communication and Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties and other Learning Disabilities

• A range of behaviour management techniques
• To have worked with learners with a range of needs
• The ability to engage a young person in learning through a range of methods
• To be able to commit to working at the school for long period of time
• A resilient attitude
