Job summary

Vision for Education in Eastbourne is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil with autism and additional needs. You will work with the class teacher and SENCO to plan and deliver tailored strategies, promoting emotional regulation, engagement and progress.

The role requires resilience, empathy and a calm, proactive approach, with opportunities to develop skills through supportive teamwork and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Desirable: Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant (not essential).
• Prior school experience with SEND, SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Confident in behaviour management to de-escalate aggression.
• Team Teach or PRICE trained (desirable).
• Resilient, empathetic, patient and not take things personally.

Responsibilities

• Support a pupil with autism, helping regulate emotions and access learning.
• Plan and deliver tailored strategies with the teacher/SENCO.
• Identify triggers and apply interventions to support positive behaviour.
• Foster independence, resilience and a safe learning environment.
