Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Lancaster. The role supports pupils with autism and additional needs, working with teaching staff and the SEND team to tailor support and remove barriers to learning.

You will help pupils access the curriculum, develop communication and social skills, and build confidence and independence, while fostering positive relationships and consistent, compassionate support throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
• Experience with children/young people or individuals with additional needs is desirable.
• Experience in support work, care, or youth work is beneficial.
• Be patient, caring, and compassionate.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm and consistent when supporting pupils with communication, behaviour, or regulation challenges.
• Willing to work as part of a wider team and safeguarding-focused.

Responsibilities

• Work with teaching staff and SEND team to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and develop communication and social skills.
• Build confidence, independence and engagement throughout the school day.
• Provide one-to-one or small-group support as needed.
• Support pupils with autism, communication difficulties, behavioural needs, and other learning needs.
