Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an Autism Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Bispham. This full-time role starts short-term with a strong likelihood of becoming longer-term for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEN, particularly Autism, and possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills to support pupils with additional needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN, particularly Autism.
• Patience, caring, and commitment to supporting children with additional needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Able to adapt to individual pupil needs.
• Experience in schools, childcare, care work, support work, or youth work is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
• Support pupils in accessing learning activities and engaging with the wider school environment.
• Encourage development of communication, social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff to support pupil progress.
• Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
• Help create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
