Job summary

HORndeAN TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support autistic students in the Autism Resourced Provision. You will assist across subjects, helping develop literacy, numeracy and IT skills, with a focus on communication and social development.

The role is term-time only, 39 weeks per year, 29.42 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, starting as soon as possible. Training and induction will be provided; safeguarding of students is a priority.

Qualifications

• Good general education with sound literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Knowledge and experience of working with students who are autistic is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and extend knowledge in this area.
• Patience, understanding and commitment, and a genuine desire to help young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to students across all subjects within the Autism Resourced Provision.
• Support sensory, communication and anxiety needs and assist with challenging behaviours in a calm, positive way.
• Assist with developing social and communication skills for students in the provision.
• Contribute to a safe, supportive learning environment and to safeguarding.
