Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking caring and resilient individuals to support pupils with autism in a welcoming school environment. The role focuses on delivering individualised curriculums and life-skills learning, with opportunities for progression to lead roles without QTS.

Qualifications

Minimum Grade C/4 or equivalent, in English Language & Maths.
Professional, personal or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities.
Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour.
Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required.
Ability to keep calm in high pressure situations.
Own means of transport due to location.

Responsibilities

Providing teaching and support to pupils with autism, following individualised curriculums.
Planning, preparing and delivering lessons and activities, focusing largely on life skills.
Supporting pupils' participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice.
Providing behaviourally based support to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life.
Providing personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene.
Monitoring pupil progress and ensuring teaching is appropriate for pupil needs.
Assisting with breaktime duties including playground support and snack time.
