Job summary

Randstad Education is looking for dedicated individuals to support children with autism in a welcoming, structured environment. You will deliver life-skills based teaching, monitor progress and assist with daily routines in a calm, supportive setting.

The role offers a part-time option (3 or 4 days), generous holidays and opportunities for progression to Lead Teacher or Class Supervisor without needing QTS. A welcome bonus and full training are provided.

Qualifications

GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or equivalent.
Experience (professional, personal or voluntary) with children and disabilities.
Able to work with children who display challenging behaviour.
Comfortable with personal/intimate care responsibilities when required.
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
Own transport is preferred due to the location.

Responsibilities

Provide teaching and support to pupils with autism, following individualised curriculums.
Plan, prepare and deliver lessons and activities, focusing on life skills.
Assist pupils in trips, applying theory to practice.
Offer behaviourally based support to reduce behaviours impacting quality of life.
Support personal care and hygiene needs as required.
Monitor pupil progress and ensure teaching is appropriate for individual needs.
Assist with breaktime duties including playground and snack-time supervision.
