Job summary

Unique School Solutions are working with a specialist school in Rotherham who are needing Autism (ASD) specialist Teaching Assistants to work in both their primary and secondary units, supporting students with Autism (ASD) and/or Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The role is to start ASAP and for the right person could lead to a permanent job after 12 weeks.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children/adults with ASD and/or PDA within the last 2 years in a school/residential/social care setting.
• Must be physically fit for a demanding role.
• Patience, empathy and calmness are essential.
• The ability to follow the class teacher's directions and use own initiative.
• Enhanced DBS clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Support students with ASD/PDA in both primary and secondary units.
• Assist under the direction of the class teacher and use own initiative when appropriate.
• Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing of students during activities.
