Job summary

Unique School Solutions are working with a specialist school in Rotherham who are needing Autism (ASD) specialist Teaching Assistants to work in both their primary and secondary units, supporting students with Autism (ASD) and/or Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). • Enhanced DBS clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Support students with ASD/PDA in both primary and secondary units.
• Assist under the direction of the class teacher and use own initiative when appropriate.
• Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing of students during activities.

Contract type: Temp - perm following 12 weeks successful temporary placement

Working hours: Monday Friday, term time only

Essential requirements for the role:

• Previous experience working with children or adults with ASD and/or PDA. This needs to be within the last 2 years, and within a school/residential/social care setting
• A good level of physical fitness. This is a demanding role
• Patience, empathy and calmness
• The ability to work under the direction of the class teacher as well as using own initiative
• Personal care and Makaton experience is desirable but not essential
