Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in the Preston area on a temporary to permanent basis, with an immediate start available. Pay £95-£115 per day.

The successful candidate will support pupils with autism and additional needs, assisting with differentiated learning and behaviour management in a small, nurturing environment. A patient, resilient and compassionate approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with autism (desirable).
• Experience managing or supporting challenging behaviour (desirable).
• Patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
• Willingness to provide personal care when required.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs in classroom and pastoral settings.
• Assisting the teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
• Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour using calm and consistent strategies.
• Providing personal care, which is an essential part of the role.
• Encouraging independence, communication, and emotional regulation.
• Working closely with teachers and support staff to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
