Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Norris Green area of Liverpool from January 2027.

The role is full-time and starts January 2027, offering 1:1 support for a pupil with ASC to access learning, build confidence, and develop social skills within a nurturing classroom environment. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team to deliver personalised support throughout the school day,

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with Autism (ASC) in a school, childcare, or support setting.
• Knowledge of SEND practices, sensory needs, and behaviour support strategies.
• Experience working with EHCPs and targeted interventions.
• A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy school environment.
• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel.

Responsabilités

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism, both in and outside the classroom.
• Support the implementation of the pupil's EHCP and individual learning targets.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the pupil's needs and learning style.
• Use effective communication and behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement and independence.
• Promote emotional regulation, social interaction, and positive wellbeing.
• Build strong relationships with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals.
• Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to review meetings when required.
• Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment at all times.
