Job summary

Supply Desk is recruiting an ASC 1:1 Mentor in Brighton and Hove to support a pupil with ASC and SEMH needs from September 2026. The role is full-time, with a competitive daily rate, and involves helping the pupil access learning and build emotional regulation and social skills within a primary school environment.

You will work closely with school staff, including the SENCO and pastoral team, to provide consistent, trauma-informed support and contribute to a positive school experience for the

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASC, SEMH, SEND, behaviour, or pastoral needs
• Background in education, mentoring, youth work, care, sports coaching, or support work is desirable
• Calm, patient, resilient when supporting challenging behaviour
• Strong communication and teamwork within a school setting
• Ability to build positive relationships and support emotional development

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASC needs within a primary school
• Support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement throughout the day
• Assist the pupil in accessing classroom learning and adapting tasks
• Build a positive relationship based on consistency and boundaries
• Use restorative and trauma-informed strategies as appropriate
• Collaborate with class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team
• Promote confidence, independence, resilience, and social skills
