Job summary

Lotus Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Learning Mentor for a Halifax-based role. The position is full-time and focuses on supporting pupils aged 7-18 with SEMH needs and Autism within a specialist educational setting.

You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide academic and emotional support, helping students engage with learning, manage emotions, and build confidence inside and outside the classroom.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, care, youth work, residential support, or a similar setting.
• Experience supporting individuals with SEMH, Autism, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs is advantageous.
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students with SEMH needs and Autism on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Assisting with the delivery of lessons and learning activities.
• Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Encouraging student engagement, independence, and personal development.
• Supporting the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals.
