Job summary

Forvis Mazars in the UK is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager (SN2) to lead audits from planning through completion for local government, NHS, and central bodies. You will supervise junior staff, manage client communications, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality audit work.

You will apply UK GAAP/FRS 102, IFRS, and the Companies Act, while developing audit strategies and ensuring compliance with firm standards. This role combines technical leadership with client-facing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• ACA/CA/ACCA or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience leading external audits with public sector or government-aligned bodies.
• Ability to manage client relations and deliver audits from planning through completion.

Responsibilities

• Audit delivery – lead audits for local government, NHS, and central bodies from planning to completion.
• Plan and scope audits, allocating resources and timelines.
• Apply UK GAAP/FRS 102, IFRS, and Companies Act knowledge to audits.
• Draft reporting outputs such as audit opinion summaries and group packs.
• Supervise auditors and seniors, provide on-the-job feedback.
• Coach junior team members and contribute to their development.
• Ensure files meet quality and risk standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain client relationships and respond to requests promptly.
• Monitor budgets and assist with billing; identify value opportunities.
• Collaborate with colleagues across service lines to support firm initiatives.
