Job summary

Ringwood School is seeking an Attendance Officer to monitor whole-school attendance, analyse data to identify concerns and work with pupils, staff and families to reduce absences. You will follow up on incomplete registers and contact parents where needed.

The role includes administering absence procedures, issuing penalty notices and maintaining records. Additionally, you will monitor vulnerable groups, identify pupils needing support, and provide regular attendance reports to leadership and

Qualifications

• Experience in monitoring school attendance and generating reports.
• Ability to follow school procedures for safeguarding and absence management.
• Strong communication with staff, pupils and families.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily attendance and ensure registers are accurate.
• Follow up incomplete data with staff.
• Follow up unexplained absences with parents/carers.
• Administer absence procedures: letters home, attendance clinics and external agency liaison.
• Manage penalty notices to parents.
• Maintain records of communications with parents and interventions.
• Track attendance of vulnerable groups and report to leaders.
• Identify pupils needing extra support to improve attendance.
• Implement CME procedures when appropriate.
• Provide regular reports to attendance organisations.
