Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and improve pupil attendance, identifying concerns and patterns at an early stage.
  • Manage and support school avoidance and attendance-related cases.
  • Provide welfare and pastoral support to pupils, particularly those who may be vulnerable or at risk of disengagement.
  • Work closely with pupils, parents/carers, school staff and external agencies to address attendance and welfare concerns.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, safeguarding and welfare records.
  • Support safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with school policies.

Attendance & Welfare Officer – Permanent Role

We are seeking a caring, organised and proactive Attendance & Welfare Officer to support pupils across SEN based school in Northampton. You will play an important role in improving attendance, supporting pupil welfare and working with vulnerable young people to help them engage positively with education.

  • Location: Northampton, NN1 2BG
  • Sector: Education / SEND
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

  • Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and improve pupil attendance, identifying concerns and patterns at an early stage.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils and families.
  • Excellent organisation, time management and record-keeping skills.
  • Confident dealing with sensitive situations and challenging circumstances.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach.
  • Business Administration and/or Safeguarding qualifications would be desirable.
