Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an Attendance Officer for a welcoming secondary school in Brighton. The role focuses on monitoring attendance and punctuality, working with Heads of Year and safeguarding leads to remove barriers to education.

Term-time-only contract with a full-time workload. Requires Enhanced DBS, strong ICT and communication skills, and engagement with families to support safeguarding and attendance goals.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a school pastoral, attendance, or administrative role.
• Strong ICT skills and experience with school management systems.
• Excellent communication and de-escalation skills.
• Clear Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Attendance tracking: monitor daily attendance and identify patterns using school systems.
• Family engagement: contact families and support home-school partnerships.
• Intervention & support: develop attendance action plans with pastoral staff and external agencies.
• Reporting & compliance: maintain records and ensure safeguarding regulations are followed.
