Job summary

Sefton is seeking an Attendance Officer to join the Complementary Education Service at Pinefield Centre in the borough. The role is permanent, full-time/term-time, 35 hours per week, with a start date as soon as possible.

You will work with pupils and families to reduce unauthorised absence, participate in daily first day contact, and support attendance strategies while ensuring safeguarding and GDPR compliance. The post is exempt from Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Qualifications

• To work alongside key staff to reduce unauthorised absence and promote attendance strategies.
• To contribute to raising attainment by improving attendance and punctuality.
• To promote safeguarding and GDPR compliance in all attendance-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Completion of termly register reviews.
• Work on strategies to promote regular attendance and punctuality.
• Assist with identifying pupils needing attendance support.
• Undertake daily first day responses with families.
• Make unsupervised contact with families in response to referrals.
• Establish reasons for non-attendance and plan actions for return to Pinefield.
• Maintain records and use IT systems for reporting.
