Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Associate Director Mechanical Engineer to lead a team delivering mechanical design for water projects across the UK. The role focuses on pumping, water and wastewater treatment design, with multi-disciplinary coordination and demand for strong leadership.

You will influence design standards, manage deliverables, support bid proposals, and drive capability growth within the regional and national D&AT practice, with hybrid working arrangements across multiple offices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Chartered Mechanical Engineer
• Experience leading large-scale mechanical design delivery in a design consultancy
• Knowledge of pumps, blowers, screens and dosing systems
• Strong communication skills with diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency with current design codes and standards including CDM and DSEAR
• Experience in the Water market is essential

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Mechanical engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex projects
• Lead development of project design deliverables for mechanical aspects and manage time/budgets
• Manage production, review and approve technical deliverables
• Provide technical leadership within the D&AT practice
• Grow and manage Mechanical Engineering capabilities within the practice
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated design solutions
• Advise clients and bid teams on technical aspects
• Collaborate with colleagues in the UK and overseas
