Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director to lead end-to-end HV substation design across UK or Ireland, coordinating with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex grid-scale projects.

You will guide technical delivery from concept through energisation, mentor engineers, and champion safety in design across all HV deliverables. AECOM offers hybrid working and strong career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering HV infrastructure design at concept, FEED, and detailed design stages.
• Strong understanding of AIS and GIS HV plant, switchgear, and cabling.
• Experience with National Grid standards and specifications.
• Proposal and bid development experience leading multi-discipline submissions for HV projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV substation technical discussions with clients and multi-disciplinary teams, defining scopes and interfaces.
• Direct the technical delivery of substation design major projects, monitor progress and quality-check deliverables.
• Apply lifecycle expertise from grid connection studies to FEED and detailed design.
• Develop resourcing forecasts and programmes aligned to construction schedules and milestones.
• Demonstrate commercial awareness through proposals and project cost monitoring.
• Build relationships with clients and understand grid connection strategies and availability.
