Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director to lead end-to-end HV substation design in the UK/Ireland, based in London or remotely from Ireland. You will shape grid-scale infrastructure from concept through energisation on high-profile projects.

The role requires delivering HV infrastructure with AIS and GIS equipment, coordinating with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring engineers for long-term capability development.

Qualifications

• Experience in consultancy, contractor, or utility energy sector.
• Proven HV infrastructure design delivery from concept to detailed design.
• Strong knowledge of AIS and GIS switchgear, busbars, cabling, and civil interfaces.
• Familiarity with National Grid standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end HV substation design for major projects.
• Interface with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to define scope.
• Monitor progress, quality-check deliverables before client issue.
