Job summary

Sompo UK is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join our UK Regions Property team within the UK Commercial Lines business, based in Birmingham.

The role supports underwriters from submission to binding, handles broker inquiries, and helps with pricing models and reporting. A minimum of 1 year Property Insurance experience and strong analytical, communication, and detail-focused skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year Property Insurance experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a close-knit team.
• Highly analytical with good logic and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Support underwriters from submission of risk through binding.
• Respond to broker/internal queries promptly with first-class service.
• Maintain relationships with brokers and third parties.
• Contribute to underwriting services projects and pricing models.
• Prepare financial analyses to support underwriting decisions.
