Sompo International seeks a seasoned Middle Market Underwriter in its Manchester office. You will evaluate submissions, price coverage, and set terms aligned with underwriting strategy.

The role emphasizes building client relationships, maintaining profitability, and collaborating with brokers across multi-line capabilities. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in P&C underwriting within the middle market, strong negotiation, Excel/Office skills, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate, Insurance or advanced degree preferred.
• At least 8+ years of P&C underwriting experience.
• Significant experience within the middle market space.
• Established relationships with retail producers.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Responsabilités

• Prioritisation and evaluation of new and renewal submissions to identify profitable accounts.
• Price and analyze coverage, structure and exposures on individual risks.
• Set terms and conditions per underwriting strategy to quote qualified risks.
• Attend client/broker meetings and other social events as applicable.
• Exercise underwriting pricing to meet profitability goals and comply with guidelines.
• Expand portfolio by developing existing relationships and pursuing new clients.
• Conduct underwriting audits and refer risks outside authority for higher-level approval.
• Collaborate to balance customer relationships with risk governance and compliance.
