Job description

  • Monitoring the performance of the portfolio and individual Agreements; responsible for checking dashboards and key metrics to evaluate trends and performance.
  • Collaborating with other Digital Underwriting teams (actuarial, data science, business intelligence) to optimise the portfolio. Responsible for making recommendations around aggregate optimisation, eligibility rule changes and market pricing.
  • Assist with underwriting, onboarding and integration of new Agreements and relationships.
  • Maintaining Digital Underwriting guidelines and documentation. Liaising with the Digital Underwriting product team when adapting or creating new product rules and requirements.
  • Supporting Underwriters throughout the annual planning process, as well as producing material for Underwriting Committee, Quarterly Business Reviews, and other committees as required.
  • Client facing responsibilities; responding to underwriting, accounting and technical queries from customers.
  • Diary management, preparation of meetings with both internal and external stakeholders. Making sure all documentation is prepared prior to meetings. Notes are distributed and follow up action points are completed.
  • Assisting with Underwriting Reviews as required. This may include collating information, drafting findings and recommendations, providing recommendations to the Coverholder and following up recommendations to ensure they are completed.

Other Responsibilities:

  • To embrace and actively implement the core principles of Continuous Conversations (Commitments, Feedback and Development) as part of daily activities and with other colleagues.
  • Take ownership of and make personal and professional development a priority as part of Continuous Conversations.
  • In line with Continuous Conversations, establish and achieve development aspirations and needs through the setting of commitments and giving and receiving frequent, constructive feedback (referring to resources provided for support).
  • To abide by the policies and procedures of Bell & Clements Ltd.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Experience underwriting or assisting with US property insurance or re-insurance.
  • A good team player with the ability to co-ordinate the needs of multiple stakeholders concurrently.
  • A self-starter with the ability and confidence to make real time decisions.
  • A basic understanding of standard insurance terminology, coverages and metrics.

This position is offered on a Permanent basis. Annual salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Annual leave - 25 days per year (not including bank holidays), increases with length of service.
