Location: London – hybrid working with 3 days in our London office.

The opportunity:

Are you looking for the next step in your underwriting career? As a member of the Commercial Insurance Real Estate team, you’ll work in an established underwriting team, working on a portfolio of domestic Real Estate risks in accordance with Zurich guidelines.

You’ll take a solution-oriented approach as you develop your Underwriting career with our broker partners and our customers. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with other lines of business to ensure we meet our customers’ needs.

What will you be doing?

• Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within our transactional domestic team and/or within delegated authority levels of highly complex assignments.
• Administer and monitor underwriting guidelines whilst complying with insurance laws, regulations, and pricing manuals.
• Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business-related needs.
• Work closely with Risk Engineering/Claims and Customer Teams as required.
• Support financial processing and premium collection as needed.
• Develop relationships with cedants & brokers to support business retention and acquisition, providing solutions for their insurance needs.
• Qualify accounts to meet organizational appetite, balancing business opportunity.
• Negotiate terms & conditions and close deals.
• Cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density.
• Handle & review large/complex underwriting submissions and reviews.
• Represent Zurich at internal and external events.

What are we looking for?

• Experience working for Insurer/Reinsurer on Real Estate/Property or similar technical lines is beneficial but not essential.
• Knowledge of insurance policy wordings, broker and market clauses.
• Accredited degree or equivalent insurance qualifications.
• Disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
