Job summary

Machine Mart, a leading UK specialist retailer of workshop power tools and equipment, is seeking a hands-on Store Supervisor to work alongside the Store Manager and help run daily operations.

You will co-lead a small team of 4–6 staff, drive sales, and maintain high standards of customer service, numeracy and basic computer literacy. The role involves delivering great customer experiences and achieving challenging sales targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail customer service oriented or sales environment.
• Supervisory or junior management experience within a retail or field sales position, ideally in a hard goods environment.
• Knowledge of product range and ability to sell product range.
• Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service to all customers.
• Proven experience in achieving sales targets.
• Confident, enthusiastic team player.
• Accuracy and numeracy, plus basic computer literacy.
• Self motivation and can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Share day-to-day running of the store with the Store Manager.
• Co-manage a small team of 4–6 staff.
• Work up to 45 hours per week; all extra time paid or taken as time off in lieu.
• Motivate the team to deliver a great customer experience while hitting sales targets.
• Build rapport with customers, offering honest advice and reassuring them when choosing products.

Job description

• Working with the Store Manager, you’ll share joint responsibility for the day to day running of the store
• You’ll be leading by example, co-managing a small team of between 4 - 6 members of staff
• You will be working up to 45 hours per week
• all extra time worked is paid or can be taken as time off in lieu
• You’ll be committed to motivating your team to deliver a great customer experience as well as achieving challenging sales targets
• With a commitment to offering honest advice, you will build rapport with customers, exceeding their expectations and reassuring them when they're bewildered by choice What you’ll need
• skills and experience:
• Proven experience in a retail customer service orientated or sales environment
• Supervisory or junior management experience within a retail or field sales position, ideally in a hard goods environment
• You’ll have practical experience / knowledge of some or all of our product range
• Proven ability to sell some or all of our product range
• Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service to all of our customers
• Proven experience in achieving sales targets
• You'll be a confident, enthusiastic team player
• Your personal skills should include accuracy and numeracy as well as basic computer literacy
• You’ll possess a high degree of self motivation and a can-do attitude
