Job summary

St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow and Brent is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Shop Manager to support our retail team across multiple shops. You will help deliver excellent customer service, maximise income, and create welcoming shops for customers, volunteers and supporters.

You will work alongside Shop Managers, share responsibilities for daily shop operations, stock, and security, and gain hands-on retail management experience in a friendly community setting.

Qualifications

  • Enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Flexible and willing to support different shop locations.
  • Organised, proactive and able to use their own initiative.
  • Can confidently take responsibility for a shop in the Manager’s absence.
  • Passionate about supporting the work of St Luke’s Hospice.
  • Previous retail experience would be advantageous, but candidates with a positive attitude and strong communication skills and willingness to learn are also welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the daily operation of the shop and maintain high standards throughout.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming retail environment.
  • Encourage and process donations from the public.
  • Assist with stock merchandising and display.
  • Open and close the shop when required.
  • Hold keys and take responsibility for shop security in the Manager’s absence.
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Promote the work of St Luke’s Hospice within the local community.
  • Support across any of our Harrow and Brent shops when required.
  • This role includes working within our furniture operations. You will be required to move, lift, assemble and display furniture safely.

Contract: Permanent contract 15 hours per week – on a flexible 7 day rota

Location:Supporting any of our Harrow & Brent shops

St Luke’s Hospice is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Shop Manager to support our retail team across Harrow and Brent. This is a varied, hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You’ll help deliver excellent customer service, maximize income for the Hospice, and create welcoming shops that our customers, volunteers and supporters enjoy visiting.

Working alongside our Shop Managers and volunteers, you’ll play a key role in the day‑to‑day running of our shops and will take responsibility for managing the shop in the Manager’s absence.

About the Role
