Job summary

Teach Now is advertising an Assistant SENCO position at a secondary school in Watford, Hertfordshire. The role works alongside the SENCO to strengthen inclusive teaching and enable students with SEND to access the curriculum confidently, developing leadership in SEND provision.

You will identify needs, coordinate interventions and monitor impact, maintain documentation and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan reviews.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status or a recognised teaching qualification with eligibility to teach in England.
  • Experience supporting secondary students with SEND.
  • Working knowledge of SEND provision and the graduated approach to support.
  • Experience collaborating with teachers, families or external professionals.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and contribute to statutory SEND documentation.
  • Willingness to complete safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Support the SENCO in planning, delivering and reviewing SEND provision.
  • Help teachers identify needs and adapt classroom support.
  • Coordinate interventions and monitor student progress.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan reviews and related documentation.
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Share practical SEND guidance with staff across the school.
