  • Ability to maintain accurate records and contribute to statutory SEND documentation.
  • Willingness to complete safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

Job description

Position: Assistant SENCO

Contract Type: Full-time or part-time, permanent

Start Date: ASAP start

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire, UK

Salary: £35,602 (M1)–£54,328 (UPS3) per annum, London Fringe pay scale

Salary depends on experience and pay scale position. The maximum applies to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to UPS3.

Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only

About the Role

Develop your SEND leadership experience as an Assistant SENCO at a secondary school in Watford. Working alongside the SENCO, you will strengthen inclusive teaching and help students with SEND access the curriculum confidently.

You will identify needs, coordinate interventions and monitor their impact, working closely with teachers, families and external professionals. Your responsibilities will include contributing to Education, Health and Care Plan reviews, maintaining clear documentation and helping colleagues adapt classroom support.

With a supportive ethos and experienced leadership team, the school offers an opportunity to contribute to consistent SEND provision while developing your skills as an Assistant SENCO.
