Job summary

Vistry Group is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Cornwall South West team at the Halden Reach site in Alphington, Exeter. You will report to the Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor and assist the commercial delivery of residential development schemes.

You will support cost management from procurement to final accounts, with a focus on accuracy, budgeting, and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• HNC / Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying / Construction management or equivalent
• A good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations
• Good knowledge of construction methods and materials
• Strong mathematical and IT ability
• Good understanding of budget management
• Negotiating and networking skills
• Excellent communications skills
• Able to work under pressure and accept criticism
• Good team working skills
• Accurate with an eye for detail
• A methodical approach
• Willing to work extra to meet deadlines as required

Responsibilities

• Attend site pre-start meetings to understand construction drawings with the Senior/Quantity Surveyor.
• Assist with compiling tender packages for all sub-contract trades.
• Receive tenders and assist with analysis to compare tender levels.
• Issue sub-contract orders in line with Group Policy and budget and programme requirements.
• Liaise with Build Department on sub-contractors' performance and compliance.
• Prepare sub-contract orders to align with site build requirements and Group policy.
• Provide forecast and site budget information for reporting.
