Job summary

Vistry Cornwall South West is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for our Exeter office. You will manage costs across projects, procurements, subcontracting, monthly payments and final accounts, while driving value for money and quality.

The role supports flexible working and requires strong IT, analytical and communication skills. Experience in residential housing development and good budget management are essential.

Qualifications

• HNC in Surveying or Construction or equivalent.
• Experience of working within the Construction industry for a residential housing developer.
• Excellent IT, analytical and communication skills.
• Strong mathematical ability.
• Ability to assess and analyse information.
• Good business sense and budget management understanding.
• Negotiating and networking skills; COINs experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend design meetings to advise on cost implications.
• Attend development, pre-start and subcontract review meetings.
• Check contract drawings for errors and unnecessary costs.
• Assist with tender lists and procurement programmes.
• Prepare tender documentation and subcontract checks.
• Prepare construction cost analysis from quotations.
• Assess site staffing and preliminary costs with the Construction Director.
• Arrange and adjudicate budget settlement meetings.
• Prepare stage payment schedules for financing works.
• Carry out pre-order meetings with health and safety checks.
• Place subcontractor orders and negotiate contract sums within budget.
• Issue variation orders and cost advice on major variations.
• Check and reconcile costs posted to contracts; provide monthly cost analysis.
• Manage subcontractor payments and final accounts.
• Prepare documents for external valuation with client agent.
• Keep RAMS updated and share with relevant parties.
• Liaise with Customer Service on post-completion defects.
• Attend site and project team meetings; perform other duties as directed.
