Atmos Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a well-established groundworks and civil engineering contractor near Bristol. You will support valuations, measurement, procurement and cost forecasting to help deliver projects up to £5m within a 40-50 mile radius.

The role splits time between site and office, offering mentoring and real opportunities for career progression into senior roles. A construction related degree or HNC/HND is preferred.

The Company

My client is a well-established and well-respected local groundworks and civil engineering contractor. They provide groundworks and civil engineering services to their blue-chip main contactor clients. Operating from their offices just outside of Bristol they work predominantly within a 40-50-mile radius, with order values generally up to £5m in value. Projects are generally commercial, educational, healthcare, defence, Leisure and industrial. They take pride in providing a quality product to their clients and also take pride on their high level of staff retention. They consider themselves to have the professionalism of a larger company but the flexibility of a smaller company. Taking a collaborative approach to their work has resulted in a very strong order book with a good proportion of repeat business from their clients. Due to their continued success and organic expansion, they are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their small and friendly team. The Role

You will split your time between site and office depending on work load. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, the main work will be to assist with:

• Preparation and submission of client valuations
• Measurement and valuation of works
• Management and administration of contractual changes
• Procurement of materials and subcontractors
• Preparation of financial reports and cost forecasts
• Agreement and settlement of final accounts
• Supporting the operations team in the successful delivery of projects
• Provide flexible support across the estimating and buying teams to meet changing business and project demands

Projects will generally range in value from a few hundred thousand pounds to circa £5m. Geographically projects will generally be within 40-50 miles of Bristol. Ongoing mentoring and development training will be included as part of the role.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will ideally have graduated from be either a construction or quantity surveying / commercial qualification at Degree or HNC/HND level. You will be driven and Keen to learn and also have the desire to progress your career, with very real opportunities for future progression within the company. You will be client facing so must be personable and professional in your outlook. You will be able to integrate and work as part of a team. You will be organised and able to deal with any situation as and when it arrives, along with being proactive.
