You will work with the commercial team across the full lifecycle of projects, supporting cost management and commercial processes, with scope to develop quickly in a growing business.

Qualifications

Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Bournemouth | £17m Main Contractor | Excellent Career Progression

My client is a friendly, privately owned main contractor that has been established for over 15 years. Based just outside Bournemouth, they currently turnover around £17 million and are entering an exciting period of continued growth.

They are now looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is looking for more than simply managing projects and working towards final accounts. This is an opportunity to join a growing business at an important stage of its development and become a key part of its future commercial structure.

The company has a clear progression plan already in place. The existing Senior Surveyor is progressing into a Commercial Manager position, while the current Quantity Surveyor will move into a Senior QS role. This growth has created an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team and develop alongside the business.

The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with the existing commercial team, gaining exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of projects while being given the support and opportunity to develop your skills.

Being part of a smaller, privately owned contractor also means you won't be restricted to one narrow area of the commercial function. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to different elements of the construction process, working closely with other departments and gaining a broader understanding of how projects are delivered from pre-construction through to completion.

This can provide excellent experience for someone at the early stages of their career, giving you a much wider perspective of the construction industry than you may get within a larger organisation where roles can be more specialised.

About You

• Have experience within a main contracting environment, or be working for a subcontractor and looking to make the move into main contracting.
• Hold, or be working towards, a relevant HNC, HND or degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Be commercially minded with a genuine desire to develop your career.
• Be driven, motivated and keen to take on increasing responsibility.
• Be comfortable working as part of a close-knit commercial team.
• Have a positive and professional approach.

Candidates who are currently studying part-time or on a day-release basis will also be considered.
