Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is helping a busy construction team recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work on live residential and construction projects from pre-construction through to final account.

This role offers genuine responsibility from day one, with opportunities to develop core quantity surveying skills while supporting project delivery and commercial management across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Previous experience within a quantity surveying, commercial or construction role, or a relevant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Measure and price works from drawings and specifications.
• Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, valuations and commercial reports.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor quotations and tender returns.
• Monitor project costs against budgets and identify cost variances.
• Prepare, review and agree subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
• Process applications for payment and subcontractor payments.
• Maintain accurate cost records and commercial documentation.
• Liaise with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers on commercial matters.
• Support the commercial management of projects from inception to completion.

Desirable

• HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• Experience using measurement or cost management software.
• Previous site-based construction experience, including trade backgrounds.
