The Company
A reputable main contractor with a strong regional presence is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. The business operates across Industrial, Logistics, Commercial, and Residential sectors, delivering high-quality projects for a variety of clients. This role offers excellent exposure to all aspects of construction commercial management and strong opportunities for career progression.

The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support Senior and Quantity Surveyors in the commercial management of live construction projects. This is a blended role involving office-based tasks alongside site visits, giving you hands-on experience in contract administration and cost control. You will be involved in measuring, reporting, and supporting the financial aspects of projects under the guidance of senior commercial staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with measurement and preparation of valuations
• Supporting cost control and reporting processes
• Assisting with subcontractor procurement and enquiries
• Supporting the preparation of variations, certificates, and accruals
• Monitoring project progress and costs in coordination with site teams
• Administration of JCT and NEC contracts
• Maintaining accurate records and commercial documentation
• Supporting Senior Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers in commercial tasks

Experience and Skills

• Some experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within construction (main contractor experience preferred but not essential)
• Knowledge of basic measurement and cost control processes
• Familiarity with JCT or NEC contracts desirable
• Good IT skills, including Excel and commercial systems
• Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Construction-related discipline (desirable but not essential)
