Overview
Our client, one of the UK's leading facilities management organisations, is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support commercial operations across a major government FM contract in London. Working closely with the Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in delivering effective commercial management and driving profit optimisation within the project management team.
Duties
- Support the commercial management of a large FM contract, ensuring contractual obligations and liabilities are clearly understood while maximising revenue, controlling costs, and maintaining high service standards.
- Assist the QS with commercial administration and management across multiple active projects.
- Gather and organise subcontract procurement information, helping to manage subcontract orders, accounts, and variations in alignment with the main contract.
- Support internal and external post-tender pricing reviews and analysis to ensure proposals remain within approved budgets.
- Carry out contract risk and opportunity assessments, helping to identify impacts on pricing while maintaining compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
- Assist with subcontractor selection for new works, ensuring they receive the correct documentation and helping prepare procurement schedules.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and auditable documentation for valuations, procurement, and commercial administration.
- Work with the QS to support daily cost control, cost monitoring, and commercial reporting activities.
- Help compile internal valuations and cost reports to support accurate financial forecasting.
- Assist with the preparation of client invoices and other QS documentation within required deadlines.
- Attend relevant internal and external project or company meetings.
- Provide support to the finance, accounts, and estimating teams as required.
- Be willing to travel to project sites and head offices across London and surrounding areas.
Requirements
- Experience within FM is highly advantageous, though applicants from M&E, Construction, or broader Property Services backgrounds will also be considered.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- A proactive individual looking to grow their QS career, with a willingness to undertake further training and development.
- Must be able to work from the London office a minimum of 2 days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely.
