Job Description:

We are looking to strengthen our Commercial team with an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, based in Bournemouth with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. The purpose of your role as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor is to provide Quantity Surveying services and ensure that all contractual and financial entitlements are fulfilled. You will assist the Chief, Senior, and Quantity Surveyors in day-to-day duties.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working as directed by the Managing and Quantity Surveyor to assist with cost control, maximizing value, minimizing liabilities, and maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Monitoring and reporting on direct labour payments.
  • Reporting withheld, disputed, or disallowed costs and assisting with dispute resolution.
  • Monitoring insurance claims and collating related cost information.
  • Assisting with subcontract preparation, measurement of interim & final accounts, and supporting the Quantity Surveyor with disputed accounts & claims.
  • Expediting payments from the client.
  • Maintaining contract files and records.
  • Assisting in the preparation of cash forecasts.
  • Preparing final accounts timely and accurately.
  • Collating financial information for audits and following cost assurance processes.
  • Ensuring actual costs are recorded according to the WBS and all cost base requirements are met.
  • Extracting and correlating information from contract records for valuation of subcontract accounts, claims, and variations.
  • Assisting in preparing progress payment applications to the client.
  • Evaluating subcontractor applications.
  • Communicating effectively with external clients and subcontractors.
  • Collaborating with internal contract, accounts, and QS staff.
