Job summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Capital Delivery team in delivering infrastructure projects safely, on time and within budget. You will work with a Senior Project Manager and technical, commercial, and operational specialists to keep projects on track and aligned with governance expectations.

This 12-month fixed-term role offers hybrid work at Maple Lodge and the chance to develop your project management career within a regulated asset-owner.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational skills coordinating across time, cost, risk and quality.
• Effective communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, suppliers and delivery partners.
• Understanding of project controls, governance, risk management and assurance.
• Proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support or lead the delivery of assigned projects or sections from brief through to completion and handover.
• Help ensure projects are delivered safely, sustainably and within time, cost and quality requirements.
• Monitor project progress and report on cost, programme, quality, risks, opportunities and issues.
• Support development of project briefs, business cases and delivery plans.
• Coordinate internal teams, suppliers and delivery partners to keep activities moving forward.
• Support management and assurance of contractors and work-order contracts.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and manage expectations.
• Contribute to project governance, assurance and change-control activities.
• Promote proactive safety culture and escalate HSE concerns.
• Support financial management of project budgets (typical range £1m–£25m).
• Encourage collaboration and clear communication across the project team.
