Job summary

Southern Water in Hampshire is recruiting an Assistant Project Manager to support the safe and efficient delivery of strategic capital maintenance projects. You will work with external delivery partners and internal teams to deliver projects on time, cost and quality.

You will gain exposure to high value schemes and coordinate across operations, regulators, and contractors, helping ensure customer resilience and reliable supply.

Qualifications

• Foundation qualification in Project Management (e.g. APM Project Management Fundamentals) or working towards it.
• Experience within Water, Utilities or Engineering industries preferred.
• Strong problem solving and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all project documentation is up to date, including contracts, permits and other regulatory documents.
• Compile and present regular progress reports to stakeholders, highlighting key developments, issues, and risks.
• Act as a point of contact for operations, principal contractors, subcontractors and other stakeholders, facilitating effective communication.
• Organise and participate in coordination meetings, ensuring all parties are aligned and informed.
• Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Assist in quality control inspections and ensure defects or issues are addressed promptly.
• Assist in identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
• Support the PM in resolving issues or conflicts during the project lifecycle.
• Assist in procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for the project.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure project activities are on track.
• Ensure health and safety systems are followed on-site, contributing to a safe working environment.
• Provide support to project team members and help resolve issues for smooth execution.
• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing documents, and maintaining project records.
• Ensure project data is accurately recorded and maintained in project management systems.
